Program Objectives
Medical students are trained to adapt to both Chinese and minimum global standards, and also meet the needs of Chinese socialist modernization construction. To be a qualified clinical medical student, one is required not only to have a solid basic medical knowledge, theory and skills, comprehensive and humanistic quality, but also a life-long learning capacity, a strong practical ability and a preliminary scientific research foundation.

Students are required to have basic theory and broad knowledge of natural science, life science and the humanities.
Knowledge Requirements
Besides grasping basic theory, knowledge and fundamental skills in both preclinical and clinical medicine, medical students need to mater the basic method for diagnosis, treatment and prevention;. sStudents are required to master the causes, pathogenesis and differential diagnosis for diseases and to handle common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases. Students also need to have preliminary capacities of dealing with urgent, difficult and severe diseases, which includinge dialectical thinking and analysis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Capacity Requirements
In order to be a qualified practitioner in all levels of hospitals, medical schools and scientific research institutions after graduation, each medical student needs a specific training with clinical scientific thoughts and methods.

Credit Requirements
The minimal credit requirement for Bachelor of Medicine in medical college is 242,. cCourses are divided into five modules, which include basic common courses of 31 credits, general education courses of 17 credits, disciplinary general courses of 82 credits, specialized courses of 59 credits and other teaching processes of 53 credits.
Basic Common Courses
Basic common courses are university-wide compulsory courses for all students. There are, 12 compulsory courses of 31 credits, including ideological and political education, military theory, college English, computer and physical education etc. 31 credits are required from this module. Ideological, political and military theory courses are exceptional for students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as overseas students.
General Education Courses
General education courses are open to all university students and aim at improving their comprehensive quality, including 4 compulsory courses of 6 credits (psychological health, college Chinese, calculus IV, freshman seminar), and interdisciplinary basic courses of 10 credits (university-wide optionalelective courses). Interdisciplinary basic courses aim to help students broaden and grasp the most basic knowledge, principles and methods in different areas, cultivating thinking ability, improving scientific and culture qualities. At least 10 credits are required in this module.
Disciplinary General Courses
They are fundamental academic courses, including 37 compulsory courses of 79 credits and optionalelective courses of 3 credits. We suggest that at least 3 credits are needed for the three semesters in the first grade, which helps to guide students to plan course-selection reasonably.
Specialized courses
Specialized courses academic courses, including 17 compulsory courses of 50 credits and optionalelective courses of 9 credits in clinical medicine.
The minimum credits for optionalelective courses in each semester: 3 credits for the second and third semester in the third grade, 2 credits for the first semester and 4 credits for the second and third semester in the fourth grade.
Other Teaching Processes
Other teaching processes include including military training, clinical practice, internship training, graduation examination, innovation and entrepreneurship training and social practice, which are composed of 5 compulsory courses of 51 credits and optionalelective courses of 2 credits.
Military training (overseas students are exempted) is arranged in freshmen entrance stage and includes entrance education.
Internship (compulsory) starts from the third semester in the fourth grade and ends by the end of the second semester in the fifth grade.
Innovation and entrepreneurship training is composed of innovation experiment, entrepreneurship training and entrepreneurial practice project.
Social practice includes community hospital practice for 2 weeks and other practice for 2 weeks. Graduation skill examination is assessed by practical hospital by the end of their internship.
Graduation examination is a theoretical test with four papers, including internal medicine, surgery, gynecology and pediatrics. Students who fail in any one of these four papers need to take a supplementary examination and pass it to get results. Otherwise, the lowest score is taken as the final score.
Notification for the Third Semester
No compulsory course is arranged in the first grade. One compulsory course and social practice isare arranged in the second grade. Students in the first and second grades can take general disciplinary courses besides compulsory courses and university-wide optionalelective courses. Generally courses of 4-5 credits open in this semester, courses of at least 3 credits can be selected freely. Since the students take bigger class loads and internship training from the third and fourth grades, the long (second) semester is connected with the short (third) semester. And 11 credits are required from general disciplinary courses in this stage.
